Teen motorcyclist killed in crash

KUALA LUMPUR: A 17-year-old boy died after his motorcycle and a lorry were involved in an accident along Jalan 1/18A in Taman Mastiara here on Thursday (June 11).

In the incident, which occurred at 1.10pm, the victim suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the lorry involved was driven by a 52-year-old local man.

Initial investigations found that both vehicles were turning left into the same lane when the motorcycle and lorry sideswiped each other.

"The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL).

"The lorry driver did not suffer any injuries," he said in a statement on Friday (June 12).

He added that a urine sample was taken from the lorry driver for screening purposes, while an evidential breath analyser (EBA) test returned a negative result.
