Welder dies while repairing water tank in Parit

IPOH: A 34-year-old man died after falling into a water tank while carrying out welding work at Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Parit, Perak.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said a distress call regarding the incident was received at 3.46pm on Tuesday (July 28).

“The victim, identified as Muhammad Nazrin Yaakob, fell while carrying out welding work on a ladder inside a water tank.

“Firefighters entered the tank and carried out the rescue operation to retrieve the victim,” he said in a statement.

He added that they had retrieved the victim using rescue ropes before bringing the body up to the surface.

Medical personnel at the scene later confirmed that the victim had died.

Sabarodzi added that rescuers then used a lowering system and a scoop stretcher to safely bring the victim down from the top of the water tank before handing the body over to the police for further action.
