KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia emerged as the biggest winner at the prestigious FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2026, affirming its global leadership in world-class property development.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said Malaysian developers secured seven gold and six silver awards across various categories at the ceremony in Vienna, Austria, on Thursday (June 11).
“This firmly establishes Malaysia as a global leader in high-quality housing and property development,” he said in a statement on Friday.
Often dubbed the “Oscars of Real Estate”, the awards recognise excellence in property development worldwide.
Nga said the latest achievement brought Malaysia’s overall tally at the awards to 47 gold medals, underscoring the local property sector’s sustained competitiveness on the global stage.
“Malaysia emerging as the biggest winner at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2026 is the strongest testament to our world-class housing and property development capabilities.
“This is not only a win for our developers but also a source of pride for the nation.
“It proves beyond doubt that our local developers are capable of delivering sustainable, high-quality projects and building thriving communities that meet international benchmarks,” he said.
Nga said the ministry had implemented a series of reforms, including the Housing Integrated Management System (Hims), Transforming and Empowering Data Usage in Housing (Teduh), electronic sale and purchase agreements (eSPA) and audits of Housing Development Accounts.
“These measures are aimed at facilitating and improving property development, and it is clear that the reforms are beginning to bear fruit,” he said.
Nga urged the wider real estate sector to build on the achievement and drive Malaysia’s property landscape to greater heights by providing quality and affordable housing.
“We hope the rest of the industry will view this remarkable achievement as an inspiration to continue innovating and raising standards across the property sector.
“By combining government support with the private sector’s world-class expertise, we remain committed to building liveable and lovable communities for the rakyat,” he said.
