Thunderstorm warning for 10 states, Putrajaya until 6pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for 10 states and Putrajaya, with heavy rain and strong winds expected until 6pm on Tuesday (June 9).

In a statement, MetMalaysia said the warning covers the whole of Penang, as well as Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu in Kedah, and Kerian and Larut, Matang and Selama in Perak.

The same weather conditions are forecast for Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman in Terengganu; Raub, Bentong, and Kuantan in Pahang; and Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, and Sepang in Selangor.

In Negri Sembilan, the warning covers Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Jempol, while in Johor it affects Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru.

In Sarawak, the affected areas are Subis, Miri and Marudi in Miri division, while in Sabah, the warning covers Beaufort and Tambunan in the Interior, the West Coast, Beluran in Sandakan, and Kota Marudu in Kudat. - Bernama
