Thunderstorms, heavy rain in several states till 9pm, says MetMalaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds expected to hit several states in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan until 9 pm Thursday (July 16).

In a statement, MetMalaysia said that the affected areas are Perlis, Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), as well as Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim).

The same warning was also issued in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak and Petaling) as well as Johor (Kulai and Johor Baru).

In Sabah, the affected areas are the Interior, West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Ranau) and Sandakan (Tongod, Telupid and Beluran).

Meanwhile, in Sarawak, the areas expected to be affected are Kapit (Kapit, Bukit Mabong and Belaga), Miri and Limbang.
