EC to meet on June 12 to set dates for 16th Negri state polls


PETALING JAYA: The Election Commission (EC) said it will hold a special meeting on June 12 to discuss arrangements for the 16th Negri Sembilan state legislative assembly election.

This comes following the dissolution of the state's 15th assembly on June 5.

EC secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said the meeting will also discuss the 16th Johor state election, which similarly its state assembly on June 1.

The commission said the special meeting will be chaired by EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun.

“Among the matters to be decided are the dates for the issuance of the election writ, nomination day and polling day, as well as the electoral roll to be used and other preparations for the election.

“A press conference will be held immediately after the conclusion of the special meeting,” it said in a press statement on Monday (May 8).
