IPOH: Police are hunting three men believed to be Indonesian nationals following an armed gang robbery at a house in Pekan Gurney in Manjung, the latest in a series of similar crimes reported in the district this year.
Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Hasbullah Abd Rahman said the suspects allegedly entered the house and threatened the victim with machetes before fleeing with cash and jewellery worth an estimated RM10,000.
He said a report was received on the incident at 6.27am on May 31.
“No injuries were reported in the incident and investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects involved,” he said in a statement on Saturday (June 6).
Police are investigating the case under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for armed gang robbery.
ACP Hasbullah said the robbery bears similarities to four other incidents reported in Ayer Tawar and Pekan Gurney this year, with investigators looking into possible links between the cases.
He urged members of the public with information on the incident to contact the Manjung district police headquarters operations room at 05-6886222, the police WhatsApp hotline at 017-6828005, or the nearest police station.
