Probe into deaths of two teens at Ipoh flats

IPOH: Police are investigating an incident where two teenage friends are believed to have fallen to their deaths from the Sungai Pari flats in Buntong here.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the victims, both 14, were found unconscious on Friday evening.

He said initial investigations found that the friends, who attended the afternoon classes, had left their school before the incident.

“Initial investigations found no foul play.

“We will continue investigating the cause of the incident after obtaining the post-mortem report and forensic analysis,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The housing complex, also known as “the Fifteen Floors”, was built in 1963 and was once a well-known landmark in the city.

It has been abandoned since 2017 after its structure was deemed unsafe.

Comm Mohd Alwi urged those with information to contact the Ipoh police operations centre at 05-245 1500 or any police stations to assist in the investigation.
