IPOH: Police have arrested a 42-year-old man who allegedly threatened an Ipoh City Council enforcement officer.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the man is believed to have attacked and threatened the city council enforcement officer at Jalan Pengkalan Barat 35 on Friday (July 24).
"The city council enforcement officer was issuing a compound notice prior to the incident.
"The suspect is believed to have acted aggressively and tried to hit the enforcement officer with his car," he said in a statement on Saturday (July 25).
ACP Muhammad Najib said the suspect also tailed the enforcement officer and pulled his collar while threatening him.
"The victim sustained light injuries and had lodged a report," he added.
The suspect was subsequently arrested at about 12.40pm on Saturday.
"The matter will be investigated under Section 353 and 506 of the Penal Code," ACP Muhammad Najib said, adding that police would get a remand order for the suspect to facilitate investigations.
He also warned that anyone who tries to stop, attack or threaten a civil servant from performing their duties will face stern action.
