MetMalaysia: Thunderstorms, heavy rain in eight states until 5pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds for eight states, including several areas in Sarawak and Sabah, until 5pm on Wednesday (June 3).

MetMalaysia, through an alert issued at 2.50pm, said adverse weather conditions are expected in Perlis, as well as in Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang and Sik in Kedah.

Other areas expected to be affected in Peninsular Malaysia are Setiu and Kuala Nerus in Terengganu; Gombak and Hulu Langat in Selangor; Jelebu and Jempol in Negeri Sembilan; and Mersing and Kota Tinggi in Johor.

For Sarawak, the warning was issued for Selangau in Sibu; Matu, Dalat and Mukah in the Mukah Division; and Song in Kapit.

Meanwhile, the affected areas in Sabah are likely to be Ranau on the West Coast, as well as Tongod, Telupid, Kinabatangan and Sandakan in the Sandakan. — Bernama
