A SECURITY guard in Kuala Lumpur sparked outrage online for alleged animal cruelty after sweeping a squirrel off a fourth-floor balcony ledge of a building, reported Sin Chew Daily.
The incident is believed to have taken place at an apartment building along Jalan Ipoh.
CCTV footage showed a man dressed in a security guard uniform extending a wooden plank towards a squirrel perched at the very edge of a balcony on the fourth floor.
Thinking that the man was trying to save the squirrel, a woman who was holding a camera was shocked when the guard swept the tiny mammal off the building.
The video recording shifted towards the ground below but the squirrel could no longer be seen and it was unclear if the animal survived the fall.
The video drew widespread attention online, with Internet users criticising the guard for his action.
Other netizens, however, pointed out that the squirrel likely did not suffer injuries from the fall due to its size.
Many urged the woman to report the incident to the apartment management, using her video footage as evidence.
> A woman in China’s Jiangsu province suffered a meltdown at a shop because the staff forgot to include two straws for her drinks, reported China Press.
Her antics were captured on CCTV and sparked widespread criticisms on Chinese social media.
The incident happened at a beverage outlet on May 21 in the city of Lianyungang when a woman came in and bought two cups of milk tea.
Due to the large number of customers, a young staff member forgot to place two straws in the takeaway bag.
The woman was seen leaving the shop but stormed back shortly afterward.
CCTV footage showed her grabbing at the straws on the counter and flinging them at the employee.
“What are you even worth? You must be out of luck to have crossed me!” she said.
The woman was seen rolling up her sleeves and attempted to lift the entire straw container to throw at the employee but failed to do so.
Instead, she grabbed a handful of straws and marched out of the shop.
Throughout the entire episode, the staff member repeatedly apologised.
The video, which went viral, sparked a wave of backlash from netizens with many noting that front-line workers deserved to be respected and the woman’s actions were uncalled for.
