Thunderstorms and heavy rain expected in several states until 9pm


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds across several states until 9pm on Tuesday (May 26).

In a statement issued at 6.30pm, MetMalaysia said the affected areas in Perak include Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim.

The warning also covers the entire states of Kelantan and Terengganu.

In Pahang, the areas involved are Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Bera and Rompin.

Affected areas in Negri Sembilan include Jelebu, Kuala Pilah, Jempol and Tampin.

In Sarawak, the weather warning covers Kuching, Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya) and Kapit.

In Sabah, the affected areas include the Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan), West Coast, Tawau, Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan) and Kudat.

The Federal Territory of Labuan is also expected to experience similar weather conditions.
