Teacher nabbed on suspicion of sexual misconduct against pupil


BESUT: A teacher has been arrested for alleged sexual misconduct against pupils at a school in the district.

The 42-year-old male suspect was arrested at 3.25pm on Tuesday (May 26) at his family house here.

The arrest was made after a police report filed by two students against the suspect.

Besut OCPD Supt Mohd Rozaime Ab Rahim confirmed the arrest when contacted, reported Sinar Harian.

He said the case is currently being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

It is understood that the police are in the process of obtaining a remand against the suspect.

Allegations of misconduct involving a teacher in the Setiu district had gone viral on social media.

The Terengganu Education Department, in a statement on Tuesday, also confirmed that the ministry is investigating the issue.
