KL, Labuan, 10 states to experience thunderstorms till 6pm, says MetMalaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain and strong wind warning for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Labuan, as well as 10 states, until 6pm Tuesday (May 26) evening.

In a statement Tuesday, MetMalaysia said the severe weather is expected to hit all of Perlis, while in Kedah it will affect Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu, as well as Seberang Perai Selatan in Penang.

In Perak, the affected areas are Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah and Kampar.

Meanwhile, in Kelantan, similar conditions are forecast for Jeli and Tanah Merah, while in Terengganu, they will cover Hulu Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman.

The same warning has also been issued for Pahang, affecting Cameron Highlands, Lipis and Kuantan, and for Selangor, covering Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Petaling.

According to the statement, similar conditions are expected to hit several districts in Sarawak, including Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Serian, Samarahan and Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi).

In Sabah, the forecast includes the Interior (Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan and Tambunan), West Coast, Tawau (Tawau, Kunak and Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan) and Kudat. - Bernama
