Johor JPJ seizes 44 luxury vehicles

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Road Transport Department (JPJ) has seized 44 luxury vehicles in a statewide operation conducted at several strategic locations.

State JPJ director Zulkarnain Yasin said Ops Luxury was conducted from Jan 1 until Sunday (May 17).

"It was carried out as a result of intelligence, monitoring and public complaints regarding the level of compliance with road laws involving luxury cars in Johor," he said in a statement on Monday (May 18).

Zulkarnain said the enforcement team involved in the operation focused on technical compliance aspects, documentation and vehicle safety.

He said the owners of the seized vehicles were found to have committed several offences under the Road Transport Act 1987.

"Among the offences are expired road tax, no insurance coverage, driving without valid driving licences, and technical violations," he added.

He said it was the prerogative of the vehicle’s owners and drivers to ensure that their vehicles were roadworthy and that all documentation was complete.

He called on anyone with information on road offences and related matters to lodge complaints via the MyJPJ app (e-aduan@JPJ) or e-mail to aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my.
