Govt may increase Budi95 quota to 250 litres for p-hailing riders, says PM Anwar

JOHOR BARU: The government will consider increasing the monthly Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) fuel quota to 250 litres for p-hailing riders, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said he had heard the plight of the riders and would bring the matter up at the next National Economic Action Council meeting.

“At Tuesday’s meeting, I will raise the matter for discussion since they (p-hailing riders) only get 200 litres, the same as the rest of us.

“I will remind Fahmi (Datuk Fahmi Fadzil) later, and we will look for a way to increase it by at least another 50 litres, making it 250 litres,” he said.

He said this in his speech during a meet-and-greet session at the Taman Desa Mutiara People’s Housing Project (PPR) on Sunday (May 17).

Anwar said he decided to do so after speaking to several p-hailing riders present at the programme.

"They did not ask for it, but I have decided to do this after hearing what they go through," he said.

The Budi95 fuel quota was previously set at 300 litres per month but was reduced to 200 litres from April 1, a move aimed at managing fuel subsidy spending amid the Middle East conflict.

Meanwhile, on a separate matter, the Prime Minister also announced the immediate approval of a RM1mil allocation to fund urgent repair works at the PPR.

“I am approving RM1mil first for now, and I hope the PPR's community could meet with Jimmy Puah (Tebrau MP) soon to discuss what needs to be prioritised.

“At least for the urgent matters, if there are things that are damaged, such as doors and so on, we will carry out repairs,” he said.

Anwar also instructed his officers to expedite assistance to repair damaged toilet facilities at Sekolah Bukit Mutiara after the matter was raised by residents.
