PETALING JAYA: An immigration raid in Seri Kembangan saw 16 foreigners, including two employees, detained for immigration-related offences.
Immigration deputy director-general (Operations) Datuk Lokman Effendi Ramli said the operation was conducted on May 12 after a week-long surveillance period at a car seat factory.
“A week-long intelligence operation revealed that the premises were owned and managed by a Chinese national who was deliberately hiring foreign workers, especially fellow Chinese nationals, without valid work documents or permits,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (May 13).
Inspections at the factory led to the arrest of 16 foreigners aged between 26 and 35, including foreign employers from China and Myanmar.
“All detainees were taken to the depot for further investigation and action.
“The department will not compromise against foreigners who conduct illegal businesses, overstay or misuse passes in this country.
“Firm action will also be taken against any parties who employ and protect illegal immigrants,” he said.
