Cops: Suspect in teen's confinement, sexual assault convicted of similar offence in 2008

SHAH ALAM: The man sought by police for allegedly confining and sexually assaulting a teenage boy in Bukit Kemuning was previously convicted of a similar offence.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Ramsay Embol said the suspect was sentenced to 17 years' jail in 2008 for raping and wrongfully confining a woman in Pandan Indah.

"The offence occurred on Dec 15, 2007.

"We are tracking down the suspect," he said when contacted on Wednesday (May 13).

Previously, it was reported a man had confined and sexually assaulted a 14-year-old boy in an apartment in Bukit Kemuning, Section 32, here on Tuesday (May 12).

ACP Ramsay had said investigations found the suspect deceived the victim by offering to buy him a mobile phone internet package if he helped carry items at his house.

"The victim was then tied up before being sexually assaulted by the suspect.

"While confined and left alone in the house, the victim managed to free himself and scream for help through a window.

"The victim is believed to have been confined for about three hours before being rescued by a neighbour, who immediately contacted the police," he said.

ACP Ramsay also advised the public to always monitor their children's movements and advise them not to engage with strangers to avoid unwanted incidents.

"The suspect has been identified, and efforts are underway to locate him.

"Any individual with further information regarding this incident can contact the investigating officer, Insp Mohamad Sabri Abd Rani, at 017-289 2628," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Sections 342, 377C, and 323 of the Penal Code.
