HONG KONG Disneyland is searching for talent in Malaysia, with open auditions to be held in Kuala Lumpur on June 20 and 21, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The theme park said castings would focus on discovering performers who can “bring characters to life”.

Successful candidates will take part in stage shows, large-scale parades and interactive sessions with visitors.

“We are excited to expand our talent search to Malaysia. The country’s vibrant arts community is home to many performers with strong potential,” it said in a statement.

Kuala Lumpur is understood to be a key stop in the latest round of auditions across Asia, with the recruiting team having already visited Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand and the Philippines.

> Major Chinese dailies reported that Beijing is becoming an ageing city, with its young population having dropped by nearly half over the past decade.

The number of residents aged 20 to 29 fell from 4.6 million in 2015 to 2.5 million in 2024.

Over the same period, the number of residents aged 60 and above rose from 3.4 million to 5.1 million.

Scholar Wang Mingyuan attributed Beijing’s declining appeal among young people to factors including the high cost of living and fewer career opportunities.

While the city remains a major innovation hub, resources are concentrated in a handful of tech firms, alongside a shrinking share of high-growth small and medium enterprises, limiting opportunities for young talent.
