SEPANG: Round the clock Aerotrain services at the KL International Airport Terminal 1 (KLIA T1) are expected to resume by the end of the month, says Anthony Loke.
The Transport Minister said all tests have been completed by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, with the full report being prepared for the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad)
“Once it is verified by Apad, we expect the Aerotrain to resume its 24-hour service by the end of May.
“In fact, it is still running now, although there are several hours in the night for track maintenance,” he told reporters after launching the MyKLIA TravelCard and My Putrajaya Travel Cards here on Tuesday (May 5).
Ever since resuming operations in July, the aerotrain has faced several technical issues
It was previously taken out of service for two years.
Last October, MAHB said a comprehensive action plan was taken to address the recurring reliability issues involving aerotrain system.
As an immediate measure, a full shuttle-bus service was deployed during off-peak hours between 11pm and 5am daily to facilitate planned and additional inspections and rectification works.
Additionally, from 5am to 11pm, a concurrent shuttle-bus service operated alongside the aerotrain to ensure uninterrupted passenger movement.
Since resuming service in July 2025, the aerotrains have carried more than 6.55 million passengers and operated nearly 95,000 trips.
