Rantau Panjang villages hit by severe drought

RESIDENTS of Kampung Tok Deh and Lubok Gong Hilir in Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, are facing water supply disruptions due to a prolonged drought, Berita Harian reported.

As the wells had dried up, residents are collecting water from the nearby Sungai Golok. Others pooled their money to dig deeper wells.

Nik Ahmad Nik Soh, 59, said the drought was the worst and longest he had seen.

“Many residents are bathing in Sungai Golok while others are collecting river water for daily use,” he said.

Another resident, Mohd Mat Yunus, 68, said the drought has persisted for more than three months.

“Some of us have collected money to build a deeper new well, as the existing ones are drying up. The cost of one well is about RM3,000, and it takes around a week to complete.

“We hope this new well can help provide us with a stable water supply,” he said.

> Singer and actress Amira Othman, who is seven months’ pregnant, remains in the dark about the baby’s gender, Harian Metro reported.

“I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t mind. As long as my baby is healthy, that’s all that matters,” she said.

The Hati-Hati singer said she was grateful for not having experienced any complications.

Her husband actor Fattah Amin did not hold back his excitement as the couple prepare to welcome their first child.

“I’m truly grateful for this blessing and the chance to become a parent,” he said, thanking their fans for the well wishes.

“Thank you to everyone who have been praying for us.”

> Singer Anuar Zain says he places much emphasis on maintaining a positive working environment, especially when it comes to choosing composers as he believes this shapes the “soul” of a song.

Berita Harian reported that he is now reviewing some new materials but is in no rush to make a decision.

For Anuar, getting to know a composer before committing to any collaboration is crucial to avoiding potential conflicts later.

“Before accepting a song, I’ll first get to know the composer and see if we’re a good fit,” he said.

Anuar also said he would steer clear of people with toxic tendencies.
