PARIT BUNTAR: Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah officiated the opening of Parit Buntar Hospital here on Tuesday (Sept 22).
Also in attendance were Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim and Raja Di Hilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad were also present.
Dzulkefly, in his speech, said that despite various challenges, including the need for intensive preliminary works to stabilise the padi field soil, as well as the Covid-19 pandemic, the hospital, which began construction in January 2018, was fully completed on July 23, 2025.
He said the hospital, which cost RM173.3mil, began operations on Sept 3, 2025.
The hospital is equipped with six building blocks and 76 beds, comprising male, female and paediatric wards, as well as maternity and High Dependency Unit (HDU) wards.
Other facilities include six delivery rooms, an observation bay, Respiratory and Haemodynamic Unit (RHU), Pregnancy Assessment Centre (PAC) and two modern operating theatres, one of which began operating on April 3, 2026.
In addition, the hospital provides zoned emergency services, specialist clinics, haemodialysis, imaging and diagnostic services, pathology, transfusion and pharmacy services, as well as the placement of a physician specialising in internal medicine and an emergency medicine specialist.
He said that, to date, Perak had one psychiatric institution, 14 hospitals, 89 health clinics, 78 dental clinics, 10 maternal and child health clinics, 188 rural clinics and 16 community clinics providing services to the people. - Bernama
