PETALING JAYA: It was “mayday” for some users as MyDigital ID became the sole login method for the MyJPJ app yesterday.
Some users, who were trying to login to the Road Transport Department (JPJ) app, were shocked to find the “Oops! Something went wrong” alert notification pop-up on their mobile phone screens.
“Today’s first day implementation system, already breakdown? MyJPJ app (note: already latest app updates recently).
“Those travelling, if roadblock, gonner. No proof of validation,” wrote a user on Facebook.
Lisa Tan, 30, said she received the error message while she was trying to retrieve her driving licence on the MyJPJ app.
“It was really like a mayday trying to get to the homepage,” she said.
Another user who only wanted to be known as S. Kumar, 45, said he too received the error message while trying to access the app.
“This is a bit cumbersome. I still prefer using the physical ID. I think the government should have really thought this through before implementing.
“Both options should be available for users,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jerome Gomez, 30, faced a different issue.
He was unable to log in to his MyDigital ID app as he had left it idle for quite some time.
“I had to revoke MyDigital ID and re-register via the app,” he said.
“When I contacted customer service, he said it could have been because the app was deleted,” he said.
The Star has contacted MyDigital ID and JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli for comment.
Malaysians must enrol their devices in the national digital identification system to ensure they are able to continue using the MyJPJ app from May 1 onwards.
This comes as MyDigital ID targets further growth in registered users this year, aiming for 17 million registered users by the end of 2026.
A report in mid-February this year stated that the platform had achieved almost 10 million registered users.
MyDigital ID acts as a single sign-on system that allows users to approve logins to integrated platforms using a password or biometric verification on their device.
