KOTA BARU: Police arrested a male Thai national and seized 6,000 yaba pills worth about RM60,000 in an operation in Pasir Mas on Saturday (Aug 15).
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the 45-year-old suspect was arrested at 7.30pm along Jalan Kampung Rahmat, Jalan Lubok Stol-Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas.
"A body check revealed a paper package containing 6,000 pills suspected to be yaba weighing about 655gm with a market value of around RM60,000," he said in a statement on Sunday, adding that a jetty along Sungai Golok was believed to be used to smuggle drugs in from a neighbouring country to the state before being sold domestically.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days from Sunday to assist investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (Act 234).
The suspect also tested positive for amphetamine and did not possess any prior criminal records, he said. - Bernama
