Fuel prices April 30 - May 6: Retail diesel prices unchanged, unsubsidised RON95 up 10sen, RON97 up 5sen

KUALA LUMPUR: The retail price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia remains unchanged at RM5.12 per litre, while retail prices for RON97 and unsubsidised RON95 have increased by five sen and 10 sen respectively for the period April 30 to May 6, 2026.

The Finance Ministry, in a statement Wednesday (April 29), said the retail price of RON97 was set at RM4.90 per litre, up five sen from RM4.85 previously, while unsubsidised RON95 was raised 10 sen to RM3.97 per litre from RM3.87 last week.

The government has also maintained targeted subsidised prices for the rakyat and selected sectors, including RON95 (BUDI95) at RM1.99 per litre, diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan at RM2.15 per litre, the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) at RM2.05 per litre and the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) at RM2.15 per litre.

"The weekly price adjustment is based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula, which takes into account the average price of the previous week.

"The ongoing crisis in the Middle East continues to create uncertainty in the global petroleum market, with conflict risks remaining high and market direction still difficult to predict. Retail prices for RON97 and unsubsidised RON95 are adjusted in line with international market movements," the ministry said.

The Ministry said the price of petroleum, which remained elevated compared with pre-conflict levels, was also affected by global supply constraints, as damage to oil production and refining facilities in West Asia would take time to recover.

As such, the Madani government has urged the public to use fuel prudently to help strengthen national supply stability.

"The Madani government will continue to take a prudent approach to protect the rakyat from price fluctuations, while ensuring the country's fuel supply remains sufficient and secure," the statement said. - Bernama
