PUTRAJAYA: The official Budi Madani portal has received over 13,000 new applications as of 11am today for an additional 100 litres of subsidised diesel per month for eligible private pick-up truck and jeep owners.

The Finance Ministry, in a statement on Sunday (June 28), said this addition increases the total diesel subsidy quota to 300 litres per month for eligible vehicle owners.

"The first day of the early access rollout for the Budi Madani Diesel initiative for eligible private diesel vehicle owners in Peninsular Malaysia on June 27 ran smoothly.

The MyKad verification system at petrol stations worked well, with no serious complaints or issues reported.

"Throughout the first day of early access on June 27, nearly 24,000 transactions were recorded, involving the purchase of almost one million litres of subsidised diesel worth RM2.1mil at RM2.15 per litre,” the statement read.

Finance Ministry added that the early access rollout prepares for the full nationwide implementation of Budi Diesel starting July 1, which will enable eligible citizens to purchase subsidised diesel at RM2.10 per litre via MyKad verification.

According to the ministry, diesel subsidy rationalisation is implemented to ensure the country's subsidised diesel supply remains sufficient for citizens and sectors that genuinely need it. It also aims to curb leakages and ensure targeted delivery.

"For the public transport, logistics and eligible commercial vehicle sectors, the diesel subsidy will continue to be channelled through the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) under the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, according to their respective categories and operational needs,” the Finance Ministry statement added.

It said the government will continue to monitor the Budi Diesel early access phase and fine-tune its execution based on feedback from the public and industry.

"The public can check their eligibility status, apply for the additional Budi Diesel quota or obtain further information through the official Budi Madani portal, while SKDS applications can be made through the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living MinistryMySubsidi portal,” said the Finance Ministry. - Bernama
