KUALA LUMPUR: A brief tussle broke out between protesters and police during the "Tangkap Azam Baki" rally after Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, who was attending the event, was led away briefly by the police.

It began when police tow trucks arrived at the protest, which was held on the road just outside Dataran Merdeka, seemingly with the goal of towing away the trucks used in the rally.

Protestors then rushed forward to block the tow trucks and police officers from reaching the vans.

In the midst of the chaos, Rafizi, who was attending the protest as a show of support, was then seen being escorted by police officers away from the protest to a number of police trucks that were parked across the road.

Protestors, assuming that the former PKR deputy president was being arrested, further rushed and pushed against officers as they attempted to prevent Rafizi from being led away.

The brief confrontation ended after Rafizi was escorted by police officers back to the rally after he was seen having a brief discussion with police officers.

Rafizi clarified to the crowd that the police officers had brought him to the side not to arrest him, but to request that he ended the rally early due to safety concerns after additional incidents like the fireworks incident earlier in the rally.
