Two killed in three-vehicle crash in Kluang


KLUANG: Two men were killed while two others were seriously injured in a crash involving three vehicles near SMK Seri Lalang here on Sunday (April 19) evening.

Fire and Rescue operations commander Senior Fire Officer I Ramli Said said the two victims were found trapped and the team extricated them using special equipment before they were pronounced dead by Health Ministry officials.

He said the crash involved a sports utility vehicle and two sedans. Two men were killed in one of the sedans while their fellow passengers suffered serious injuries.

Ramli said the SUV driver survived, while the driver of the other sedan, a woman, sustained injuries and had exited her vehicle before the team arrived.

"The injured victims were sent to a nearby hospital, while those who died were handed over to the police for further action," he said.

Earlier, the Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call regarding the incident at about 4.10pm, and a Fire Rescue Tender and a Light Fire Rescue Tender, with 12 personnel from the Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue Station, were dispatched to the scene.
