PETALING JAYA: Four people were rescued after a fire broke out at a first-floor apartment unit in USJ 14, Subang Jaya, on Monday (June 29).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call at 9.48am and firefighters from the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene, with assistance from the Puchong station.

"The fire involved a first-floor unit of a four-storey apartment block, with approximately 80% of the unit destroyed.

"A man in his 20s, believed to be the tenant of the unit, as well as three foreigners – a man and two women in their 20s – who were trapped in a fourth-floor unit by thick smoke, were successfully rescued by firefighters," he said in a statement on Monday (June 29).

Ashrul Riezal said all four victims were brought to safety and no injuries were reported.

He added that the fire was brought under control at 10.12am.
