Manjung cops nab local woman acting as transporter for undocumented migrants


IPOH: A local woman has been detained by the police for acting as a transporter for undocumented migrants in Manjung, Perak.

Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Hasbullah Abd Rahman said police uncovered the smuggling activity involving 40 Indonesian undocumented migrants along Jalan Besar Segari to Batu Hilir, Segari in Manjung.

“The case is being investigated under Section 26A and Section 26J of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007, as well as Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63,” he said in a statement Tuesday (April 15).

He added that about 10 Indonesian nationals who failed to produce valid identification documents were arrested near the coastal area of Kampung Sungai Lombong, Lekir on

April 14 about 2.30am.

In a separate location on the same day, he said that another seven Indonesians were also detained.

“We view it seriously and will not compromise on any individuals or parties involved in protecting undocumented migrants and will continue efforts to dismantle related syndicates.
