KUALA LUMPUR: Firm action will be taken following the death of an Army personnel in an incident in Bentong, Pahang.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin (pic) said his ministry viewed the incident seriously.
“I am deeply saddened to receive news of the passing of Prebet Muhammad Amirul Raziq Rosafindi following an incident in Bentong,” he said in a statement on Saturday (April 11).
Khaled said any form of violence, misconduct or breach of discipline does not reflect the values, integrity and professionalism upheld by the Malaysian Armed Forces.
“There will be no compromise against any party involved,” he said.
The case is currently undergoing legal proceedings and will be determined by the courts in accordance with the law.
Khaled said his ministry would ensure justice is upheld and has instructed the Malaysian Armed Forces to strengthen discipline and integrity within its ranks through firm action.
“This is to ensure that such incidents do not recur,” he said.
He also extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, expressing hope that they would remain strong during the difficult period.
“May they be granted strength and resilience in facing this challenging time. Let us all pray that he is placed among the righteous,” he added.
Earlier, investigations into the assault of Private Muhammad Amirul Raziq Rosafindi are now being conducted as a murder case following his death.
He passed away on Saturday (April 11) at 9.34am.
In the same incident, six other personnel were not injured but were brought to Hospital Bentong for medical checks after their statements were recorded.
The suspect allegedly assaulted seven military personnel at the Bentong Camp after being dissatisfied with how the victims carried out their assigned weapon store cleaning duties on March 30.
The suspect, a lower-rank non-commissioned officer, used physical force, including slapping and punching the victims in the face and abdomen.
