CHINESE basketball star Guo Ailun has rubbished rumours that he had fallen prey to a fraud involving almost ¥10mil (RM5.8mil).

Sin Chew Daily reported that the 32-year-old Guangzhou Loong Lions point guard said in his Weibo account that he was not scammed as claimed by some people on social media.

“I didn’t want to respond to the claim, but someone fabricated a story about how I was scammed, and it’s getting more and more believable and serious.

“They even made up the names of the scammers, like taking advantage of my vulnerability while I was injured,” he said.

Guo said those responsible for fabricating the story should be screenwriters rather than wasting their time making up stories.

“These people are even better than real scammers, all for clicks and traffic. I must come forward and say that I was not scammed,” he added.

Reports claimed an acquaintance had induced Guo to transfer the money under the guise of an investment scheme.

It was reported that Guo had lost contact with the person and the funds were not returned to Guo, prompting his family to lodge a police report.

> China Press reported that 30-year-old Chinese actress Esther Yu Shuxin, famed for the Love Between Fairy and Devil drama, drew about 600 fans who welcomed her to Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Monday.

Yu attended a fan meeting as the iQIYI International Global Ambassador as part of the iQIYI Starship 2026 tour.

After melting the hearts of her fans with Malay greetings like “Apa khabar” (How are you) and “Aku cinta padamu” (I love you), Yu told her fans that she could not resist Malaysian delicacies as she had eaten satay on board her flight even before arriving in the country.

She said she would love to participate in variety or food related shows in Malaysia to experience the local culture.

On how she releases her stress, Yu said: “Just give me beautiful dresses to take some beautiful photos, and I will be very happy.”
