Pahang royal couple sends deepest sympathies to family of late Dr Ling


PETALING JAYA: The Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah expressed their deepest condolences on the passing of Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik.

In a statement on Sunday (April 5), Their Royal Highnesses conveyed their sympathies to the late leader's family and expressed hope that they would remain strong and resilient in facing the loss of their loved one.

"May his family find comfort and courage in facing the loss of a beloved father, husband and leader," His Royal Highness said.

The sixth and longest serving MCA president, who passed away on Saturday, held several key positions in the government, including Parliamentary Secretary, Information Deputy Minister, Deputy Finance Minister and Deputy Education Minister.

He later served as Transport Minister for 14 years from 1986 until his resignation in 2003, during which he played a significant role in shaping the country's transport infrastructure.

Among his notable contributions were the modernisation of Port Klang into a major global transshipment hub, boosting Malaysia's competitiveness in international trade.

He was also instrumental in the development of Kuala Lumpur International Airport as the nation's main aviation gateway.

"The nation mourns the passing of Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, whose vision and leadership left a lasting legacy for Malaysia's development," His Royal Highness said.
