GAMBANG: Teraju Bumiputera Corporation (Teraju) has brought together nearly 70 government agencies, higher education institutions and industry players to expand access to financing, capacity-building programmes, advisory services and strategic networks for Bumiputera companies in Pahang and the East Coast.

The initiative was held through the Teraju Aspirasi Outreach Pahang 2026 programme at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) here recently.

The programme comes as Pahang's economy continues to show positive growth, with greater participation by Bumiputera companies seen as important to ensuring they are able to capitalise on emerging opportunities, particularly in business expansion, supply chain participation and access to wider markets.

The event was officiated by Pahang Felda Affairs, Cooperatives and Entrepreneurs committee chairman Datuk Amizar Abu Adam, who represented Pahang Mentri Besar.

Also present were Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shahar Abdullah, Teraju chief executive officer Junady Nawawi and UMPSA deputy vice-chancellor (corporate strategic) Prof Dr Che Ku Mohammad Faizal Che Ku Yahya.

Held under the theme "Realising the Scaling and Value Creation of Bumiputera Companies", the programme focuses on helping Bumiputera companies scale up by strengthening their business fundamentals, enhancing capacity, expanding into new markets and developing capabilities for more structured and sustainable growth.

The programme provides access to a wider support ecosystem covering financing, strategic advisory services, technology adoption and supply chain development.

Entrepreneurs also have opportunities to establish direct links with government agencies, financial institutions, higher education institutions and industry players.

Teraju said the outreach programme is part of its efforts to bring its support ecosystem directly to entrepreneurs in Pahang and the East Coast, making it easier for them to understand and access available assistance to strengthen their competitiveness and scale their businesses.

Pahang's gross domestic product (GDP) rose to RM71bil in 2025 from RM68.8bil the previous year.

The growth has been supported by the Pahang State Economic Master Plan 2025-2030 (PET30), which focuses on quality investments, the development of high-value industries, increased productivity and the creation of new economic opportunities.

The plan aims to ensure that the benefits of the state's economic growth are shared more widely among its people.

With more opportunities emerging in high-value economic activities, local companies are also expected to play a greater role in expanding supply chains and building more competitive businesses.

Teraju said it would continue strengthening access to financing and capacity-building initiatives to ensure Bumiputera companies are able to benefit from this growth.

To date, nearly RM190mil in financing has been approved for Bumiputera companies in Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu, reflecting Teraju's continued efforts to widen access to capital and support sustainable business growth.

Junady said Teraju remained committed to supporting the development and progression of local entrepreneurs in the East Coast.

“Our goal is to ensure that Bumiputera companies not only grow, but also evolve into investment-ready and bankable enterprises that are equipped to move to the next level, including exploring the capital markets and potential listings on Bursa Malaysia,” he said.

He said outreach programmes such as Teraju Aspirasi Outreach were important in bringing financing facilities, guidance and strategic networks directly to entrepreneurs.

“Through programmes such as this, we bring the ecosystem directly to entrepreneurs so they can make decisions and seize growth opportunities more quickly and effectively.

“This is how we ensure that the true value of the Bumiputera agenda reaches the grassroots and delivers a long-term impact on businesses and local communities,” he said.

To maximise the impact of the programme, Teraju Aspirasi Outreach Pahang 2026 also featured agency-matching sessions with strategic partners including Mara, Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB) and Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Pahang (PKNP).

The sessions enabled entrepreneurs to seek more targeted support based on their individual business needs.

The programme also featured sharing sessions on PuTERA35, an entrepreneurs' forum and financial literacy sessions, complementing access to financing with capacity-building initiatives and greater understanding of financial management and growth opportunities.

Teraju said the collaborative approach was aimed at strengthening business networks, enhancing company capabilities and supporting more sustainable growth in Pahang and the East Coast.

Teraju Aspirasi Outreach Pahang 2026 will continue to serve as a platform for direct engagement between government agencies, higher education institutions, industry players and the business community, ensuring that support remains responsive to the actual needs of entrepreneurs.

Aligned with the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35) and the Ekonomi Madani framework, the approach supports efforts to strengthen the capabilities, competitiveness and value creation of Bumiputera companies.

Through targeted outreach and interventions, Teraju said it would continue laying the foundations for more Bumiputera companies to grow, expand their markets and participate more actively in the economic value chains of Pahang and the East Coast.
