Batu Gajah MCA raises RM58,000 at charity dinner to aid local community

BATU GAJAH: About RM58,000 was raised by Batu Gajah MCA during a charity dinner to support activities benefiting people in the constituency.

Jointly organised with Pertubuhan Keselamatan Pembangunan Menglembu Ipoh Perak, the funds will be split between the two parties to carry out their respective initiatives to serve local residents.

About 700 people attended the dinner, which was held in Pusing, Batu Gajah, on Thursday (March 26).

The guests of honour at the event were MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon and vice-president Datuk Tan Teik Cheng.

Also present were state party leaders and representatives from various divisions.

In his speech, Dr Mah said party members need to stay united and continue working hard to protect the Chinese community.

“Over the past six to seven decades, when MCA faced incidents that threatened or affected Chinese rights, it never retreated.

“MCA stood firm and did its best not only to protect but also to gradually expand those rights,” he said.

He also urged members to be prepared for the next general election, noting that a “political tsunami” could occur.

“Whether it will come, and whether we can seize the opportunity in the next general election, depends entirely on party members.

“Everyone needs to be fully prepared to unite and work together to face the elections,” he said.
