SEREMBAN: The Negeri Sembilan-level Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house, originally scheduled for April 4 in Bandar Sri Jempol, has been scrapped.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the decision aligns with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s call for government agencies and linked companies to reduce spending.
"We have decided to cancel the event to be prudent in our spending," he said on Tuesday (March 17).
"Also cancelled is the Hari Raya Madani celebration, which was due to be held in Port Dickson on April 12."
Aminuddin said the move will help reduce expenditure for the state government and its linked companies (GLCs).
However, he noted that government departments and agencies are still free to celebrate the occasion internally.
"They should, however, do it on a moderate scale and only among themselves," he said.
The Prime Minister’s directive on March 11 followed economic concerns regarding the ongoing Middle East conflict.
