Man falls to his death while trying to flee raid in Jalan Gombak

KUALA LUMPUR: A man died after falling from the third floor of a building while attempting to flee during a police raid on a residential unit along Jalan Gombak here on Wednesday night (March 11).

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the raid, carried out at about 9.07pm, was conducted to assist investigations into a motorcycle theft case.

He said two suspects attempted to escape by jumping from the third floor of the building during the raid.

“One of them, a 52-year-old local man, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other survived,” he said in a statement on Thursday (March 12).

The case has been classified as a sudden death report.

In the same raid, police detained 12 individuals comprising four men, five women and three children aged between three and 42.

Comm Fadil said all the individuals were locals except for two Indonesians.

“Police also seized two motorcycles reported stolen as well as several types of drugs from the residence, and further investigations are ongoing,” he added.

He also advised the public not to speculate on the incident to avoid confusion, public concern and interference with police investigations.
