DESPITE the growing trend of online shopping in Malaysia, traditional tailors continue to see strong demand for personally-crafted Hari Raya Aidilfitri outfits, Berita Harian reported.

Tailor Ai’da Fazihrah Nazri, 40, said the growing consumer shift towards online shopping has not affected her business, as she has already completed 250 sets of Hari Raya outfits this year.

She said she began receiving orders after opening booking slots last November, as many still prefer garments tailored to their exact measurements.

“This year, I had about a 20% increase in orders compared with the previous year, so I have been working hard. I can complete about five basic outfits a day.

“But for more fashionable designs with detailed patterns, I can only finish one a day depending on the complexity,” she said.

The rise of digital space has also helped Ai’da, who said demand for her services surged after a video of her sewing a garment in a single day went viral on TikTok.

“After the video went viral, people were queuing in front of my shop for a few weeks,” she said.

> Renowned actor and comedian Sathiya has been hospitalised after his health deteriorated following a fall at his home last Friday, reported Kosmo!.

His daughter Amani said the fall caused the 62-year-old to become weak, complaining of dizziness and vomiting when he tried to stand up on his own.

“He also refused to eat or drink as his right leg became increasingly swollen, so we brought him to the hospital,” said Amani.

She said doctors then informed the family that her father’s right leg might require surgery.

She was also told that her father’s left leg, which was previously amputated below the calf due to complications from diabetes, might also require surgery.
