SHAH ALAM: Police have obtained positive leads in their investigation into the attack on the home of activist S. Chandrasegaran, also known as “Cikgu Chandra”, in Taman Kinrara.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the leads were obtained following investigations into several reports lodged in connection with the incident, but declined to elaborate as the probe is still ongoing.
“As of this morning, we have obtained positive indications in the case. Any significant developments will be shared with the media so that the information can be conveyed to the public.
“I hope the media will understand and give the police space to carry out our duties,” he said during a press conference at the Selangor police contingent headquarters here on Wednesday (March 11).
In a statement yesterday, Comm Shazeli said police had opened investigations into malicious mischief by fire and criminal intimidation following incidents reported in the Taman Kinrara residential area on March 9 and March 10.
He said police are conducting thorough investigations from multiple angles to determine the motive behind the attacks and to identify those responsible.

“We will ensure that the investigation is carried out in a transparent and fair manner,” he said.
Comm Shazeli urged the public to refrain from spreading speculation or provocative content, particularly on matters involving race, religion and royalty (3R).
He warned that police would not compromise with any party attempting to incite tensions related to such issues.
Earlier, videos circulating on social media showed three vehicles belonging to Chandrasegaran being set on fire, allegedly by a group of unidentified individuals.
It was also reported that the teacher’s home in Puchong was attacked, with the windows of his vehicles and residence damaged.
