Expect announcement regarding JS-ZES to be made soon, says Onn Hafiz


JOHOR BARU: Two major announcements are expected to be made soon to boost the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), says Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

He said the Economy Minister is expected to announce the JS-SEZ master plan, while the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry is also set to make a significant investment announcement.

“The upcoming JS-SEZ master plan will outline various initiatives and efforts to further intensify economic activities within the zone.

“These initiatives are expected to benefit not only the state’s economy but, more importantly, the people of Johor through job creation and expanded business opportunities,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Feb 28).

He said the Investment Ministry is also expected to announce attractive investment opportunities related to the special economic zone.

Onn Hafiz added that he had also concluded a detailed discussion with Johor investment, trade, consumer affairs and human resources committee chairman Lee Ting Han on the direction of the JS-SEZ.

He said with the support of all parties at the federal and state levels, Johor has recorded the highest investment in the country so far, at RM91bil as of September last year.
