Muda party polls: 31 candidates to compete for spot in executive committee

PETALING JAYA: A total of 31 candidates will be contesting for a spot on the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) central executive committee (JKEP) in its first party polls. The campaigning period will commence between Feb 28 to March 13, with polling taking place on March 14 during the Muda 2025 annual general meeting.

Muda election director Zaim Zulkifli said in a statement on Saturday (Feb 28) that the party constitution states the JKEP election will be chosen by the delegates. They will elect 25 JKEP members. Then, the elected 25 JKEP members will choose their main positions including the president, deputy president and vice presidents.

Among the eligible JKEP candidates are acting president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz, secretary-general Ainie Haziqah, vice presidents Zaidel Baharuddin and Dobby Chew as well as information chief Leben Siddarth. Zaim said the party election committee is committed to ensuring that the entire electoral process is carried out in a transparent and just manner with integrity.

He added that the first electoral process is proof that the party is determined to ensure a transparent democratic process in choosing the new committee. This committee will soon lead the organisation in line with its constitution and democratic spirit.
