KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic flow on all major highways nationwide was reported to be smooth as of 10am Wednesday (Feb 18), but the number of vehicles is expected to increase after noon.
A spokesperson for the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said key hotspots, including Genting Sempah on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway, Seremban (E2), and Slim River, Tapah and Gopeng (E1), have yet to record any congestion.
"So far, traffic remains under control. However, we anticipate a gradual increase in volume after noon or following Zohor prayers,” he said when contacted.
The spokesperson added that weather conditions could also impact traffic flow, as heavy rain is forecast in several areas.
"Based on Tuesday's (Feb 17) trend, continuous heavy rain from morning until evening contributed to higher traffic volume.
"Motorists are advised to ensure their vehicles are in good condition, particularly windscreen wipers and lights,” he said.
The LLM also reminded motorists not to switch on their hazard lights while driving in the rain, as this may confuse other road users.
Drivers are urged to adhere to the designated speed limits and maintain a safe following distance at all times throughout their journey.
Highway users are also encouraged to plan their trips by referring to the Travel Time Advisory (TTA) schedule via the MyPLUS-TTA application.
