IPOH: Police have arrested three men believed to have stolen an excavator in Kampung Sumpitan in Gerik.
Gerik OCPD Supt Abdul Samad Othman said the arrests were made in two separate operations on Tuesday (Sept 8).
He said the first suspect, aged 34, was arrested here at about 10am while two others, aged 66 and 29, were arrested in Gerik at 4.35pm.
"The first suspect is believed to have stolen the vehicle, while the 66-year-old man runs a vehicle spare parts shop.
"The last suspect is believed to have transported the excavator from Gerik to Ipoh on a loader," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 9).
"We also seized included the excavator and a mobile phone during the arrests."
Supt Samad said the case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicular theft.
"The police will take stern action against anyone involved in theft or disposal of property without permission.
"Those with information on the case should come forward to assist investigations," he added.
