CNY open house more than just a celebration, brings together Malaysians, says MCA

PETALING JAYA: MCA's Chinese New Year open house is more than just a celebration but also about bringing people together, says Datuk Chong Sin Woon.

The MCA secretary-general said the event offers a meaningful opportunity for Malaysians of all backgrounds to meet, interact and strengthen the bonds that unite them in their diversity.

"Chinese New Year is the most important traditional festival for the Chinese community. By opening our doors to all, MCA hopes to create a space where people from different backgrounds can gather, exchange greetings and interact with one another.

"This, in turn, will help deepen understanding and unity among all communities as we work collectively towards a more harmonious, inclusive and stable Malaysia," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 10).

He added that as a Chinese-based political party, Chong said MCA will continue to uphold tradition by inviting government and political leaders to its Chinese New Year open house including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Barisan Nasional component party leaders, foreign envoys and others.

The MCA Chinese New Year open house will be held on Feb 17 at 9.30am at Dewan San Choon, Wisma MCA.

Malaysians from all communities are invited to come and share in the joyous celebration while strengthening harmony and mutual understanding in our diverse society.

The programme will feature a variety of cultural activities, including lion dance performances as well as stage music performances.
