PUTRAJAYA: The Registrar of Societies Malaysia (RoS) has confirmed receiving an official complaint from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) over claims that the party was not involved in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) supreme council meeting on July 16 and issues related to its membership in the coalition.
RoS said that it was examining the complaint received on Tuesday (Aug 11), based on the Societies Act 1966 (Act 832), the Societies Regulations 1984, the organisation's approved constitution, and the department's official records.
"To ensure that the review is comprehensive and based on the law, all information, documents and explanations submitted by the parties concerned will be examined.
"The issues raised will be reviewed based on the provisions of the law currently in force," RoS said in a statement on Tuesday.
In carrying out its responsibility, RoS said it would continue to act professionally and impartially and had no interest in any organisation or political party.
RoS also stressed that every registered organisation must comply with the Societies Act 1966, relevant regulations and its respective constitution.
Earlier, the media reported that Bersatu planned to lodge a report with RoS over claims by other quarters that its membership in PN would automatically cease following the party's intention to form a new political coalition. - Bernama
