KUALA LUMPUR: The police investigation of an alleged defamatory Facebook post linking Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (BN-Bera) to an attack on the son of Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli (PH-Pandan) have been classified as "No Further Action" (NFA), says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
The Home Minister said the investigation paper was referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) on Dec 23, and the AGC subsequently classified the matter as NFA.
"The decision was made based on the findings of an account profile analysis report by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), which was unable to identify the owner of the account concerned or conclusively link any individual to the Facebook account under investigation," he said in a parliamentary written reply dated Wednesday (Feb 4).

Saifuddin Nasution said police had earlier received a report, Dang Wangi Report 23401/2025 dated Aug 18 last year, and opened an investigation paper under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Rafizi had asked the Home Minister about the status of investigations by the police and MCMC into a report lodged by Ismail Sabri’s press secretary on Aug 18 over defamatory content published on a Facebook page allegedly linking the former prime minister to an attack on Rafizi’s child.
Rafizi’s 12-year-old son was attacked at a shopping mall in Putrajaya on Aug 13, after two men were seen following his wife’s car on a motorcycle.
The boy was taken to hospital for treatment, while the assailants fled the scene.

Following the incident, Rafizi denied claims circulating online that the attack was linked to alleged whistleblower information on a purported money laundering case involving Ismail Sabri or projects linked to Khairy Jamaluddin during his tenure as health minister.
Last week, Rafizi said he would ask police to drop the investigation if it continued to show no progress, saying he did not want officers to waste resources on the case.
