Six-month-old baby boy found dead at home in Air Itam


GEORGE TOWN: A six-month-old foreign baby boy was found unconscious at a flat in Air Itam here on Monday (Jan 26) by his parents before he was pronounced dead.

Timur Laut district police chief Supt Lee Swee Sake said the police received a public tip-off about the incident at 8.55am and preliminary investigations revealed the baby was found unconscious on the bed in the bedroom by his parents around 7am.

"There were no criminal elements and the baby had a history of medical issue with his lungs.

"The results of an autopsy by the Penang Hospital forensics department did not detect any criminal elements,” he said in a statement on Monday night.

The case has been classified as a sudden death and a sudden death report has been opened to conduct further investigations, he added.- Bernama
