Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar to be sworn as Kinabatangan MP on Jan 27

KUALA LUMPUR: Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar is slated to be sworn in as the new Kinabatangan MP in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Jan 27).

The oath-taking ceremony has been scheduled as the first order of business for the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday.

He will be replacing his late father Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin who held the seat for six terms.

The seat fell vacant when Bung Moktar died on Dec 5, at age 66.

The Barisan Nasional candidate secured a majority of 14,214 votes to win the seat held by his late father in a three-cornered fight during the Jan 24 by-elections.

Naim garnered 19,852 votes to defeat Parti Warisan candidate Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman, who received 5,638 votes while Independent candidate Goldam Hamid picked up 746 votes.
