Delivery rider nabbed for allegedly posing as policeman to demand sex

MELAKA: A 25-year-old man impersonating a cop allegedly demanded sexual favours from a teenage girl during a purported security check at a roadside.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the 17-year-old victim lodged a police report after becoming fearful for her safety following the incident last Sunday (Jan 18).

He said the incident occurred when the victim, who works as a supermarket cashier, was riding her motorcycle home to Klebang here.

“The victim reported that she was stopped by a stranger riding a motorcycle along Jalan Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Zain in Cheng here. The suspect then introduced himself as a policeman before demanding sexual favours,” he said on Thursday (Jan 22).

ACP Christopher Patit said the suspect then asked for the victim’s MyKad and took a photograph of it using his mobile phone before requesting access to her mobile phone for inspection.

"He subsequently opened the victim’s TikTok application and pressed the ‘follow’ button before leaving the scene,” he said.

He added that the suspect, who is a delivery rider, was detained on Tuesday to assist investigations under Section 506 and Section 170 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and impersonation of a public servant.
