KINABATANGAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Lamag state by-election Mohd Ismail Ayob, plans to make full use of the remaining three days of the campaign period ahead of this Saturday's polling, intensifying efforts to secure voter support.
Better known as Miha, Mohd Ismail expressed that despite his campaign momentum being at its peak, he intends to keep his team proactive and avoid complacency. He plans to reach as many voters as possible within the Lamag constituency.
"We’ve already visited all polling district centres in Lamag, and we will be going on a second round to meet voters again,” he said Tuesday (Jan 20)
He said this when met after observing the early voting process for the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections at the Kinabatangan district police headquarters, which involved 196 police personnel, with 189 voting in person and the remaining seven by postal ballot.
Mohd Ismail also expressed confidence in Barisan's chances of securing victories in both the Lamag state and Kinabatangan parliamentary seats, citing positive feedback from voters during surveys and visits.
The Kinabatangan by-election features a three-cornered contest involving Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar (Barisan), Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman (Warisan) and Goldam Hamid (Independent), while Lamag sees a straight fight between Mohd Ismail and Mazliwati Abdul Malek (Warisan).
The by-elections were called following the death of the incumbent, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, 66, on Dec 5 last year. - Bernama
